Second Hand Christmas

Four kids. A million things they want. An empty pocketbook.

The answer: Second hand Christmas.

My kids really don’t ask for a lot and with the move we just made, a new house was really the best Christmas present I could give them. Each child has his or her own room. Sure they’d love to have Ipods, newer, bigger flatscreen televisions and all the electronics one could hope for, but reality sets in when the bills are due. They watch us stress over each envelope.

So this year, they came to me with an idea.

Why not forfeit all the materialistic Christmas hustle bustle and buy everything second hand this year. (Within reason.) Electronics would of course have to have a warranty of some sort.

Pawn shops and second hand stores offer electronic warranties. If not, beware.

Clothing, on the other hand, can be found barely worn or with the tags still attached. They all agreed it would be silly to go into debt over anything more than a few simple, gently used items.

What wonderful kids!

So, the Lord has blessed me abundantly!
